Upcoming Public Art Projects
Green Roof: BOTTLE WORKS is helping restore Cambria City & Johnstown as a wonderful place to live, work & play. BOTTLE WORKS has undertaken their mission of arts, culture and economic development in an environmentally sensitive fashion, and has transformed their Art Works building with the intent of creating a LEED certified facility. This part of the project is currently designed and in the bidding/negotiation phase to install the Green Roof on the 17,900 square foot former stable, which will be a “living roof” composed of native plantings in the heart of an urban setting. This will be the first “living roof” in the region, and people will be able to see first hand how native vegetation and water recycling/management can have a positive impact on our environment. This project is being funded thanks to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
Artists Green: BOTTLE WORKS is simultaneously moving forward on the next phase of their plans to transform this urban setting into an eco-friendly and tourist attracting facility. In 2014, BOTTLE WORKS acquired two adjacent parcels, with plans to recreate this barren and deteriorated site into a green setting. The Artists Green will transform the barren lots in urban green space incorporating public art and community gathering spaces and green infrastructure to manage stormwater. This project is being funded through DCED, DCNR, Foundation of Pennsylvania Watersheds and National Endowment for the Arts.
