Exhibiting at BOTTLE WORKS

Artist Exhibition opportunities:
Bottle Works is taking submissions from artists for solo and small group shows in our spacious galleries. We are currently defining our 2020 and 2021 exhibitions calendar. Artists are selected by the Exhibitions Committee. We have spacious galleries in two buildings, in the heart of Johnstown’s Cultural-Historic district, ideal for exhibiting art from local to international artists, emerging to professional, Fine Arts and Artisan Crafts. Exhibits are considered in one of these three categories: Professional Art (including Fine Arts and Folk Arts), Community based Art, Amateur/Emerging Artist.

The difference between these distinctions means:

If you apply as a professional artist

  • You are able to submit all materials in high quality digitally and
    • If a fine artist, you have developed your artistic style and skills to express your individual artistic vision. (All work must be of your original design, not made in a class or from another artist’s image)
    • or in the case of folk arts, that you have honed your skills to carry on the artform according to that particular heritage
  • All artwork is properly presented/framed or mounted appropriately to meet archival and gallery standards of aesthetics (absolutely no sawtooth hangers). For digital submission do not include the frame, matting, or mounting in the image unless it is integral to the artistic statement.
  • You have photos of the artwork that are ready for publication, without glare, taken without glass over the work.
  • You have some experience exhibiting your work

If you apply as an ameteur/emerging artist

  • You will need some assistance and mentoring in the process of exhibiting your work

If your interest is in community arts

  • The exhibit will be a group show of artwork resulting from a community project or Bottle Works classes, studio work or meetup sessions.

Additionally, juried show opportunities will be listed separately, with a different entry format.
