Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the art quilt through education, exhibitions, professional development, documentation, and publications. SAQA defines an art quilt as “a creative visual work that is layered and stitched or that references this form of stitched layered structure.”

SAQA is dedicated to bringing beautiful, thought-provoking, cutting-edge artwork to venues across the United States and around the world.  The focus of The Eye Of The Needle Exhibit is to include work highlighting diversity of style and techniques used by SAQA PA artists

Founded in 1989 by an initial group of 50 artists, SAQA now has over 3,400 members: artists, teachers, collectors, gallery owners, museum curators and corporate sponsors. A dedicated core of volunteers and staff keep the organization vibrant, dynamic, and progressive. 

SAQA is an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the art quilt and the artists who create them. We are an information resource on all things art quilt related for our members as well as the public. The Juror is Andra Stanton andrastanton.com, an author and fiber artist, with a background in psychotherapy. Her third book, Dimensional Cloth: Sculpture by Contemporary Textile Artists will be released in June 2018 by Schiffer Publishing. Andra’s current work is primarily 3D though she continues to explore all aspects of surface design. Her sculptures won first prize in the “Art as Medicine” exhibit at Boulder’s Dairy Arts Center in 2017. Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries throughout the country.
