PIANO CLASSES by Laura Williamson

One of our resident artists, Laura Williamson, offers piano classes for adults of all ages and levels!

  • Spring Session last 8 weeks, beginning Tuesday, April 4 and ending Thursday, May 25th.
  • Class length is a relaxing 75 minutes, which allows time for learning new concepts and pieces, ensemble playing, individual review and practice, and a few minutes of socializing.

At Piano For Pleasure we want your first learning experience to be fun and stress-free! You’ll play tuneful melodies, develop healthy technique, and learn keyboard geography, note names, and basic rhythms. No prior knowledge will be assumed and the emphasis is on personal enjoyment!
Tuesdays, 10:05 – 11:15 AM  or
Thursdays, Noon – 1:15 PM

If you know a little about music but are new to the piano, or if you played previously but want a thorough (and fun!) review of the basics, this class is for you! You’ll be reading music and using both hands in no time, and you’ll also learn a few easy chord progressions so you can pick out your favorite songs!
Wednesdays,10:00 – 11:15 AM

This class is for Piano For Pleasure students currently playing from Piano Pronto Movement 1 (the green book), or any late beginner wanting to continue their musical journey. Playing a variety of familiar music, you’ll have a lot of fun while developing hands-together coordination; learning easy scales, chords and progressions; and improving your sight reading.
Tuesdays, 1:15 – 2:30 PM

This class is for Piano For Pleasure students who are ready to begin Piano Pronto Movement 2 (the orange book), or other adults who can read and play hands-together music that occasionally moves out of five-finger positions. Using the rhythm and instrument features on the digital pianos, you’ll have fun playing a variety of music from the classical, jazz and folk traditions, and you’ll also learn the chord progression frequently used in pop music.
Tuesdays, Noon – 1:15 PM

This class is for Piano For Pleasure students currently playing from Piano Pronto Movement 2 (the orange book), or any adult pianist who plays (or used to play) at an intermediate level. Come enjoy the camaraderie of a class environment, where we play an enjoyable mix of solos and ensembles, and have a lot of fun using the digital pianos to create our very own keyboard orchestra!
