Camp BW: Ages 6-12

Join us for Camp BW!  Participants can engage in a series of fun art camps that explore the world through art, music, dance, science, history, mindfulness and more. Camps are paired with adventurous field trips, pending COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions, and exciting guest visitors. Camp BW is sure to thrill!  

Camp Instructions are professional artists and educators with childcare clearances.

Camp BW – Week 1: June 28-July 2, 2021

Adventures in Art

Monday- Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM  

Field Trip Day: Wednesday, June 30, 2021  

Ages 6 – 12

Instructor: Holly Lees, Laura Troy

Let’s get adventurous! Campers will start each day with mindfulness lessons that encourage kindness and caring. We’ll gain new perspectives and learn about how artists tell stories and express their emotion through art. 

Spin, swing, and splash paint using BW’s giant spin art machine and create an abstract acrylic pour paint piece! Campers will also make clay creations, glaze their own pottery, and build nature sculptures. Adventures in Art is a very popular art camp. Holly will offer new projects and activities. Past campers are welcome to attend! 

During field trip day, undergo high-flying experiences at Outdoor Odyssey. Go rock climbing, zip lining, and more on Wednesday, June 30.

Camp BW – Week 2: July 12-16

Wild Things- Animal Art 

Monday- Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Prepare for a wild week of fun! Campers will be thrilled as they take a walk on the wild side and spend a week full of furry, feathery, scaly animal adventures. Campers will design a jungle full of animal-inspired creations including clay animals and critters, mixed media pieces of our favorite animals made from recycled materials and more.  We’ll spend a day dressed in animal costumes and play safari-inspired games. Real life animal friends will come to visit and we will visit animals on our field trip. 

 Field trip : Valewood Farms July 14

We will take the Moo to you tour learning about the cows and other animals on the farm. Valewood farm’s ice-cream will cool us of as we watch the cow and create our own cow inspired masterpieces!

Camp BW – Week 3: July 19-23

Swish, Splash, Click: Explore Environmental Conservation, Art & Photography

Monday- Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Ages 6 – 12

The swish of brush, the splash of water, and the click of a camera are all sounds you’ll hear during this camp as we learn how art and environmental conservation intersect. Discover how artists use their skills to help the earth and how the Bottle Works buildings are designed to help the environment. Activities include photography, painting outdoors with watercolors, designing art from recycled materials and more. 

On field trip day, guest presenters from Surfs Up Adventures and the Conemaugh Valley Conservancy will facilitate a creek walk and teach us about watersheds.

Camp BW – Week 4: July 26 – July 30

Art of Olympics 

Monday- Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

As the world comes together for the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, Camp BW created a camp that encompasses the spirit of community and explores the artistic wonderment that surrounds the world games. Students will learn  about the Olympics’ opening & closing ceremonies  performance arts, graphic design, and fashion design. Campers will work together to create their own  “closing ceremony” complete with props and wall projections. Create your own flag to represent Camp BW. Using paper mache.  We’ll also make tea-light torches and props for  “Camp BW’s Summer Games” and compete to see who will have the most fun. 

Other events include art creation triathlon, wet and wild relays, chalk-art long jump, and abstract art discus throw.  It will be the celebration of the century!

Art of the Olympic campers will present their  closing ceremony performance for family and friends at 2:30 PM Friday, July 30.

Camp BW – Week 5: Aug 2-6

African, Drum, Dance, & Celebration

Monday- Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Ages 6 – 12

Instructors: Kulani Members: Holly Lees, Gwen Msolomba, and Jeanette Hunsberger

It’s an African adventure! Campers will immerse themselves in the rich history of drum, dance and the songs of Africa. Experience African culture through food, arts, crafts, and stories! Campers will make their own African style fabric garment and jewelry, and more.

In this camp, we will create community and spread joy, learn new dances and drum rhythms, never before taught at our summer camps. At the end of camps,  Students are welcome to join  Kulani Kids Troupe and perform with the Adult West African Drum and Dance group, Kulani, during Ethnic Fest 2021.

End of Summer Bash

Back by popular demand, we are creating a week of wild and wacky fun. Complete with the return of the famous color-powder battle. We will create unique art using fun and splashy techniques, play and make cool games and crafts. We will get soaking wet in our water balloon fight!

Science teacher, Barbie Vena, will lead us in creating some slimy, slithery, foamy and fabulous fun. End of Summer Bash Camp is a highly anticipated camp, which tends to fill quickly. Our art projects change each year, but you can expect the same level of fun…if not more!

When you enroll for four or more weeks, you’ll pay a special price for each week of camp and will be considered a Bottle Works Junior Artist for the Summer of 2020. Junior Artists will receive major artists’ perks including a swag bag with a t-shirt and other fun things. Bottle Works Junior Artist Regular Prices per week: $145 Non-members, $140 Members Discount for Bottle Works Junior Artist can be combined with  early bird discounts when camper are sign up and first payment is made before June 1 combine discounts per week pricing: $135 Non-members, $130 Members. A limited number of scholarships are available. Scholarships are based on declared financial need and interest. Scholarships will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis. In order to extend funds to as many students as we can, we prefer to offer partial scholarships based on your declared need. We receive many scholarship requests, and try to met every request whenever possible, but scholarship funds are limited.

Before & after is care available as early as 8:00 AM and as late as 5:00 PM – $5 per hour (discounts available for hours of more than 15 per week). *A schedule and payment must be submitted at least one week prior to the summer program to ensure that care is available


Bottle Works offers scholarships for art camps and workshops to partiipants ages 18 and youger. Full or partial scholarships are available and distributed on a first come, first served basis and precedence is given to participants who are enrolling in more than one camp or workshop. Before & After care is available starting at 8:00 AM. All learners must be picked up by 5:00 PM  Cost: $5 per hour (Before & After Care discounts are available, contact Holly Lees for more details).
